I installed the 6.0.90 rc1 Version because I had problems to run Octave 5.2.0 on Big Sur too.
What I noticed is, that after working with octave the fan got louder and louder and my CPU percent of octave was 99%.
I have MacBook Pro (16 Zoll, 2019)
2,6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
6 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Could you be more specific about “working with Octave”? Is the high CPU load triggered as soon as you start Octave, or is it bound to a specific command you run in the interpreter, or maybe to the use of a given tool in the GUI (e.g. figures, variable editor, source editor, …)?
Note that Octave 6.0.90 is a release candidate (not even the latest), not meant for production.
It was after i generate some calculations in the command window. But I never had this Problem again. So maybe it was a sporadic error. But thanks for your answer.
