What license to use

Hi, I’m uploading some octave scripts to GitHub, meant to be used by people doing computational chemistry. I have never paid much attention to different licenses.
I want anybody to be able to use the code however they please, and modify it. But I wouldn’t want some corporation to take the code and use it on a commercial product and change the license or something. I know it’s not going to happen because my code is super basic and unremarkable, but I want to start using a license nevertheless. Also it should be compatible with the license octave uses.
Anyone know what license should I use?

Only you as software author can make that judgment call, but here is some information to guide you:

Thank you for the answer.
I think I’m going to go with GPL, but I need to read a little more before deciding
